Gauteng schools are waiting for R1.87 billion in funding after the Provincial Treasury advised the Education Department to delay Norms and Standards payments due to cash-flow constraints. Gauteng Finance MEC Nkululeko Dunga revealed that the Education Department had warned Treasury months earlier about its funding needs. Despite these warnings, schools did not receive their full first-tranche allocations.
