A coroner has rejected a request for anonymity made on behalf of three council workers expected to give evidence at the inquest into the death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, found dead in August 2023. Her parents, Urfan Sharif and Beinash Batool, were sentenced to life imprisonment in December 2024 for her murder. Surrey County Council sought to protect the workers' identities, but this application was opposed by media organizations, including the BBC, and the coroner ruled that anonymity was not justified.
