Congelcam S.A., which handles about 80% of Cameroon’s frozen fish imports, says it has run out of stock and that its Douala warehouses, with capacity for 104,000 tonnes, are empty. The MINEPIA cut the company’s annual import quota from 200,000 tonnes in 2025 to 100,000 tonnes in 2026. After Congelcam requested an additional 100,000 tonnes on September 18, it received authorization for only 30,000 tonnes, which the company considers insufficient. It warns that markets could run short of fish from late November, with prices likely to rise before the holidays.
