Israeli elections: What are the possible outcomes?

Israelis will vote on October 27 to elect all 120 members of the Knesset, in the first election since the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023, and Israel’s subsequent war in Gaza. Polls project 52 seats for the opposition bloc and 50 for Benjamin Netanyahu’s religious-nationalist alliance, leaving Palestinian-led parties potentially decisive. Under Israel’s proportional representation system, parties must negotiate coalitions, and none has ever won the 61 seats needed for an outright majority. Netanyahu could still remain in office if Likud secures enough support from allies such as Jewish Power, Religious Zionism, Shas or United Torah Judaism.

Obi, who ran for president under the Labour Party in 2023, has joined the NDC ahead of the 2027 election.
