Navy rescues 3 stowaways hidden in ship’s propeller compartment

Three Nigerian boat drivers, Isaiah Oyetayo (30), Goddey Samson (26), and Popoola Felix (28), were intercepted and rescued by the Nigerian Navy while hiding in the propeller compartment of the MV MAERSK CALABAR, a merchant vessel bound for Europe. They boarded the ship at Apapa Port and were discovered after the vessel got underway. Commodore Aiwiyor Adams-Aliu, the commander of NNS Beecroft, emphasized the dangers of unauthorized access to seagoing vessels and called for awareness among youths regarding the risks of illegal sea migration.
