Mali: ultimatum to soldiers in armed groups

Malian soldiers operating in armed groups must return to their original units by September 6, 2026, or face desertion charges. This directive comes from the general staff of the armed forces and targets soldiers in irregular situations. Meanwhile, the Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration, and Integration (DDR-I) program has demobilized 1,760 ex-combatants, with 1,617 integrated into the Malian Armed Forces after military training.
