Iran Guards Say Three Tankers Caught Fire After Hitting Mines in Hormuz

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say three oil tankers exploded and caught fire after striking mines on a route they consider unauthorized through the Strait of Hormuz. Their statement said the vessels had switched off their radar and navigation systems and ignored warnings from the Iranian navy; their flags and the timing of the incidents are unknown. The UK maritime agency UKMTO separately reported a ship on fire in the strait but gave no cause or details and did not confirm whether it was one of the three tankers. The Guards also said they captured a US MQM-170 reconnaissance drone during an operation in the western strait.

Tibor Nagy Wants the US to Also Sanction Kinshasa, Which Has “Its Own Armed Groups”; Thérèse Kayikwamba Says the Situations Are Not Comparable

The United States sanctioned Rwanda’s Defense Ministry and Zigama Credit and Savings Society over alleged support for the M23 and its political wing, AFC, in eastern DR Congo. Tibor Nagy, a former US assistant secretary of state for African affairs, urged Washington to sanction all troublemakers, claiming that Félix Tshisekedi’s government also has armed groups that threaten Rwanda. North Kivu: Child killed and six civilians wounded in shelling blamed on FRN in Walikale

A five-year-old child was killed and six civilians were seriously wounded on Wednesday, October 28, in Waloa Yungu, Walikale territory, North Kivu. Local customary and civil society sources blamed the explosive attacks on the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN) rebels, who reportedly targeted Wazalendo positions from Kibati and Kashebere; shells struck villages and a health facility serving displaced women and children. The wounded were taken to a local medical facility, and their condition remains worrying. The attacks came amid clashes between the Congolese army (FARDC), backed by Wazalendo, and the FRN, as the army seeks to retake areas of Walikale.
