WHO urges safer care for NCD patients

The World Health Organization (WHO) urged African countries to prioritize patient safety in the treatment of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Mohamed Janabi, highlighted that patients with diabetes, cancer, and other NCDs face risks such as medication errors and delayed diagnoses. In 2021, NCDs caused at least 43 million deaths globally, accounting for 37% of all deaths in the WHO African Region in 2019.
