Youth employment: Mamadou Touré wants local authorities to drive job integration

At the 4th Local Authorities Fair, held in Abidjan on October 16, Minister Mamadou Touré and ARDCI president Aka Aouélé called for stronger cooperation between the state and local authorities to promote youth employment. Regional offices of the Youth Employment Agency have channelled more than 1.7 billion CFA francs to 1,683 micro- and small-business promoters. Touré aims to establish civic service centres in every region by 2030: eight are operating, ten are under construction and 19 are planned, with 50 billion CFA francs in funding under discussion with the West African Development Bank. In total, 118,095 young people have received support through investments exceeding 55 billion CFA francs.
