OPEP debunks viral video of confrontation between troops and police in Plateau

Joint Task Force OPEP has debunked a viral video depicting an altercation between its troops and police in the Rafiki area of Plateau State. Spokesman Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh said Sector 3 troops were deployed on October 20, 2026, after a distress call reporting gunfire in Mai Farin Moto, Maraban Dere and nearby communities, as well as the killing of resident Adamu Suleiman. The troops said they tried to engage police to clarify the situation and coordinate the response, but that some officers did not cooperate. OPEP said the incident is being addressed through appropriate channels and stressed the importance of coordination between security agencies.

Nightly rallies by hardline supporters in major Iranian cities, held for 200 days, have evolved into highly organised political events.
