Chad: Justice prohibits clerks from replacing notaries by simple order

The Chadian Ministry of Justice has prohibited heads of jurisdictions from empowering clerks to perform notarial acts by order. Minister Ndolenodji Alixe Naïmbaye emphasized that this practice is not in accordance with the legislation, which provides for substitution and replacement mechanisms for absent notaries. She called for the immediate cessation of these illegal empowerments.
