Taraba Steps Up Ebola Surveillance, Plans Airport Fever Screening

The Taraba State government has intensified health surveillance and plans to introduce fever screening at the state airport after an Ebola case was reported in Abuja. Health Commissioner Dr. Bordiya Gbansheya Buma directed public and private healthcare facilities to report suspected cases immediately and announced plans to train health workers and run public awareness campaigns. He outlined Ebola symptoms and transmission, urged residents to follow hygiene precautions and cooperate with contact tracing, and warned against rumours and stigma. Residents can call the NCDC’s toll-free line at 6232, available 24 hours a day.
