Diphtheria: Kano records 1,747 deaths from 32,633 confirmed cases

The Kano State Centre for Disease Control reported 1,747 deaths from diphtheria since the outbreak began in December 2022, with 32,633 confirmed cases. Director-General Dr. Muhammad Abbas stated that the disease has spread to all 44 local government areas of the state. He also dismissed reports of 50 child deaths in Rano Local Government Area as inaccurate.
