Kenyan Police Disown Fake Statement on Alleged Abduction of Tanzanian Activist

Kenya’s National Police Service (NPS) disowned a fake statement circulating on social media that claimed police had opened an investigation into the alleged abduction of Tanzanian activist Twaha Mwaipaya. Amnesty International said Mwaipaya was reportedly abducted on October 25 while travelling by taxi to Kamulu in Machakos County. Police have yet to comment publicly on the reported disappearance.

DRC: C64 renews call for political de-escalation and independent investigations into violence at opposition demonstrations

Meeting in Rome on October 26 and 27, 2026, the C64 Coalition called for an end to arbitrary arrests, intimidation and restrictions on peaceful political activity, as well as the return of political exiles. It urged independent, potentially international, investigations into violence at demonstrations on June 12 and September 15, 2026, and the assassination of Manassé Lomboto. C64 also demanded the dissolution of the “Forces du progrès” militia and said the war in eastern DRC does not justify suppressing public freedoms.
