Accord Party presidential candidate Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim urged the US Commission on International Religious Freedom to address insecurity, religious persecution and ethnic discrimination in Nigeria. He cited 3.68 million internally displaced people, according to UNHCR figures for October 2026, and called for the release of Hausa cultural activist Maisango, whom he said was being held without trial. Hashim also called for an investigation into reported April 2026 attacks in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where residents were allegedly killed and 11 villages burned.
