New Waves of Displaced People After Fighting in Masisi and Walikale

The humanitarian crisis is worsening in the territories of Masisi and Walikale, North Kivu, due to violent clashes between the AFC/M23 and a coalition of Wazalendo fighters. Dozens of families, initially sheltered in Kilambo and Busurungi, are fleeing again to safer areas such as Walikale-Centre and Bukavu. The fighting, which has intensified since August 13, has nearly emptied the populations of the Ufamandu I and II groupings.
