Yemeni government in military and diplomatic push to reverse Houthi gains

The Yemeni government suffered a significant blow earlier this month when it lost Yemen's Red Sea coast to Houthi rebels. It is now pursuing a combined military and diplomatic strategy to regain the initiative and prevent Houthis from consolidating their gains. Saudi-backed government forces claimed control of Mount Qarafan in southern Taiz, killing five Iranian-allied Houthi fighters. Additionally, pro-government forces thwarted a Houthi infiltration attempt on the Kahboub front, which overlooks the strategic Bab al-Mandeb strait, and captured Mount Zalat nearby.
