Stanfield trial: Witness challenged over claim police called accused ‘untouchable’

At the Western Cape High Court, Ralph Stanfield’s defence challenged a security guard’s testimony that a police officer had called the accused “untouchable.” The witness had left the alleged remark out of his statement and could not recall when it was made; he also said he had no evidence that Stanfield was carrying a firearm during the alleged Palm Springs Apartments incident. He testified that Stanfield, Nicole Johnson and Johannes “Bal” Abrahams forced their way into the premises and that seeing firearms hindered him from doing his job. The defence argued that his court testimony contained inconsistencies with his earlier statement.

The report estimates the group had 600–700 operational fighters in February 2026 and says kidnappings provide labor, recruits, and families. It argues that Uganda’s military operation displaced the ADF but has not stopped gold from ADF-controlled areas flowing into Uganda.
