Youssou Ndour’s absence from Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics revealed: “We contacted him, but he…”

Youssou Ndour did not perform at the opening ceremony of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, held on October 31 at Stade Maître-Abdoulaye-Wade. Speaking on TFM’s “Infos Matin” on November 2, ceremonies director Khady Niang said he had declined an invitation so the show, “L’Envol de Sitoé,” could take center stage without being overshadowed. Ndour was at the stadium and watched the entire ceremony from the VIP stands. Spectators are now hoping he will perform at the Games’ closing ceremony.
