US targets foreign officials prolonging parental child abduction cases - Daily Post Nigeria

The United States has imposed sanctions on foreign officials, including government officials, judges, and law enforcement personnel, who obstruct the prompt resolution of international parental child abduction cases. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a visa ban targeting those responsible for delaying family reunifications and failing to comply with laws and court orders. The policy aims to hold non-compliant countries accountable and protect American children abducted abroad, under the framework of the Hague Convention ratified in 1988. Parental child abduction is a felony under U.S. state law and a federal crime under the International Parental Kidnapping Crime Act.
