Anglican Church seeks mandatory drug tests for public office holders, candidates

The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has called for a constitutional amendment to make drug and substance abuse tests mandatory for public office holders and candidates. This request was made during the 15th General Synod held in Ikenne, Ogun State, from September 14 to 18, 2026. The Synod expressed concerns over the rising issues of drug trafficking and substance abuse, particularly among youth, and urged stronger collaboration among government, schools, families, and relevant agencies.
