ZAMII 2026: DR Congo calls for transparent mining governance and regional value chains

At the opening of the Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka (ZAMII) 2026 in Lusaka on October 19, Congolese Mines Minister Louis Watum Kabamba called for regional value chains, transparent mining governance and a fairer distribution of mining revenues to communities. Representing the head of state, he reaffirmed the DRC’s commitment to local resource processing and creating added value in Africa. He also urged investment in infrastructure and smoother cross-border trade with Zambia, particularly at the Kasumbalesa crossing, to improve competitiveness and support industrial development and jobs.

Infinity Mortgage Bank to Raise ₦50 Billion in Fresh Capital

Infinity Trust Mortgage Bank plans to raise ₦50 billion to strengthen its finances, expand operations and improve its competitiveness. Shareholders unanimously approved the proposed capital raise at an extraordinary general meeting in Abuja; it may be conducted through a rights issue, private placement or public subscription offer. They also authorised an increase in issued share capital and approved converting 600 million preference shares into ordinary shares.
