Zimbabwe businessman Wicknell Chivayo killed in helicopter crash

Wicknell Chivayo, one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent businessmen, died along with his wife Lucy Muteke and four others in a helicopter crash in a rural area east of Harare. The helicopter crashed about 40 minutes after takeoff near Marondera, with no survivors reported. Chivayo, founder of Intratrek Zimbabwe involved in major energy projects, had recently gained Eswatini citizenship and a diplomatic passport, and was known for his lavish lifestyle and energy sector ambitions across Southern Africa.
