Russian threat: Germany prepares its elite commandos for a possible conflict

The Bundeswehr’s Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK), an elite unit based in Calw near Stuttgart, is adapting its training for a possible confrontation with Russia. KNCHR Calls for Urgent Aid as 40,000 Ethiopians Flee to Kenya

Kenya’s National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) says about 40,000 people fleeing unrest in Ethiopia have sought refuge in Moyale and is calling for an urgent humanitarian response. More than 15,000 people are reportedly staying in eight temporary shelters, while over 20,000 are accommodated by relatives and friends; needs include food, clean water, shelter, healthcare and sanitation. Persistent rainfall could worsen living conditions and increase disease risks, and four women reportedly gave birth at Manyatta and Bitiye. The arrivals follow clashes between Oromo and Somali communities on the Ethiopian side on October 22; KNCHR said the situation on both sides of the border was calm Tuesday morning.

Cases have been recorded in 66 health zones across eight provinces, while some treatment centres are overwhelmed and remote areas lack medical supplies and health workers. The WHO has announced the launch of the first clinical trial of a vaccine for the strain, for which no vaccine or treatment has been approved.
