Makinde camp asks EFCC to probe alleged payments for ministerial appointments

The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate allegations that serving ministers paid billions of naira to secure appointments in Bola Tinubu’s administration. In a statement by strategic communications director Richard Nnanna Ihediwa, it criticised the president’s silence five days after campaign spokesperson Alwan Hassan reportedly raised the claims on national television. The group called for anyone found culpable to be held accountable and alleged that political figures and people close to Tinubu had enabled appointments it described as incompetent and corrupt. The organisation, which backs Seyi Makinde under the APM, also pledged to prioritise transparency and citizens’ welfare through its proposed “Reset Nigeria” agenda ahead of the 2027 election.

The party is led by Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who has been in exile in Gambia since November 2025 and continues to contest the election results. The suspension comes as court proceedings are ongoing and convictions have been handed down, including by the Yaoundé Military Tribunal.
