Nollywood actor Francis Duru, born in Cameroon, dies at 57

Nigerian actor Francis Duru died at the age of 57 after a short illness, according to a statement posted Friday on his official Instagram account. Born in Cameroon on July 27, 1969, to Nigerian parents from Imo State, he began his acting career in 1989 and rose to prominence in 1995 as Ahanna in Rattlesnake. He appeared in films including Blood Money, Stigma and Mboputa, earning a Best of Nollywood Award for the latter in 2020. The Actors Guild of Nigeria confirmed his death, and its president, Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, paid tribute to him.
