Tinubu Is a Prodigal Son with No Identity, Says Dino Melaye

Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), called Nigerian President Bola Tinubu a “prodigal child” with no identity or lineage. Kaduna rally: Atiku challenges Tinubu over hunger and hardship

At a rally in Kaduna, former vice-president and ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar challenged President Bola Tinubu to account for hunger and poverty after Tinubu blamed the opposition for the problems. Atiku cited the removal of the petrol subsidy, the naira’s depreciation and a World Bank estimate that 63% of Nigerians would be below the national poverty line in 2026. He also demanded answers about public spending, including ₦7.13 trillion listed for “energy security,” ₦11.2 trillion in NNPC pipeline-related spending and $22.5 million in charges on an Abu Dhabi financing facility. Atiku faulted the government over continued killings, kidnappings and displacement, saying Tinubu’s economic and security record would face scrutiny in the 2027 election.

Former envoy faults Ortom’s remarks on Alia and governance in Benue

Terhemen Tarzoor, a former speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and Nigeria’s former ambassador to Namibia, criticised former governor Samuel Ortom for reported remarks about Governor Hyacinth Alia. He called the terms “419,” “fake Reverend Father” and “shenanigans” inappropriate, and defended the Catholic Church’s accountability systems. Tarzoor also said it was unfair to compare Ortom’s eight-year administration with Alia’s roughly three years in office without accounting for each government’s time in office and goals. On benefits Ortom reportedly said he had been denied, including a house in Abuja or elsewhere, Tarzoor said he knew of no law providing for them.
