Fifagate: In New York, the Jinkis Avoid Trial in Exchange for $50 Million

A judicial agreement has ended the charges against Hugo Jinkis and his son Mariano Jinkis, Argentine businessmen who admitted their involvement in a corruption scheme related to sports broadcasting rights. In exchange for a forfeiture of $50 million, fraud charges were dropped, allowing them to avoid trial. This scandal, known as Fifagate, also led to the downfall of former FIFA president Sepp Blatter in 2015.
