Gaza’s Christians mourn mother and daughter killed in Israeli attack

Gaza’s Latin Patriarch, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, expressed deep sorrow over the death of two Christian women, Maysa Abu Daoud and her daughter Mary al-Najjar, killed in an Israeli air strike on Gaza City. The attack, which also killed three other Palestinians, occurred in the Remal neighborhood despite a US-brokered ceasefire with Hamas. Their funeral was held at Saint Porphyrius Church in Gaza’s Old City, and their deaths are seen as a significant loss for their families and the local Christian community. Their 14-year-old son Fouad called for an end to Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, highlighting the daily loss of loved ones.
