India protesters march with 1km banner of deleted voters’ names

Protesters in New Delhi marched with a one-kilometre banner bearing the names of people removed from India’s voter rolls. Opposition parties rallied again to protest the deletion of nearly 130 million names. They also demanded the resignation of the country’s election chief.

Hebron siege continues for 10th day as Israel threatens wider offensive

Israeli forces have maintained the siege of Hebron for a tenth consecutive day after two Israeli soldiers were killed in an attack on October 23, and have threatened to widen their offensive. Mayor Yousef al-Jabari said more than 3,300 Palestinians had been displaced or affected, 15 homes and other structures demolished, and 327 businesses forced to close. He put daily economic losses at more than 12 million shekels and said about 80,000 students had been unable to attend school. Arrests continued across the occupied West Bank, including the detention of 10 teachers in Masafer Yatta.

Abia 2027: Otti unveils ‘Rescue to Consolidation’ manifesto

Governor Alex Otti unveiled his re-election manifesto, ‘The New Abia: From Rescue to Consolidation’, at his campaign launch on Saturday at Umuahia Township Stadium. He said he needs another four years to institutionalise transparency, eliminate mediocrity and safeguard the gains of his administration. Otti cited nearly 400 road projects covering more than 1,000 kilometres, the recruitment of over 9,000 teachers, improvements to primary healthcare and investment in universities and local industries. He urged voters to support the Labour Party and directed that public facilities be made available to any party or candidate that follows regulations and pays the required fees.
