Mohamadou Kanté Chooses Mali, Denying Senegal a Potential Reinforcement

Twenty-one-year-old West Ham midfielder Mohamadou Kanté, who is of Senegalese descent, has chosen to represent Mali rather than Senegal or France. Mali coach Anthony Da Silva named him in a 24-player squad for the two matches against Rwanda on November 13 and 17 in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Kanté has scored three goals and provided two assists in his last nine appearances for West Ham. Standing 1.95 metres tall, he also brings strength in duels and aerial ability.
