The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun desilting drainage channels following heavy rains that caused flooding in Abuja. Mr. Richard Dauda, acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, stated that this initiative aims to mitigate flood risks during the rainy season. He also highlighted that vandalism and illegal development exacerbate the situation, particularly through the construction of retaining walls that obstruct water flow.
