Jigawa govt clarifies report of zero spending on education in Q1 2026

The Jigawa State Government rejected reports of zero expenditure on education in Q1 2026, stating it spent N29.19 billion on the sector. Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Babangida Umar, clarified that the Q1 2026 Budget Performance Report shows an original education budget of N231.77 billion, with a performance rate of 12.6%. He acknowledged that while some individual budget lines recorded no expenditure, this should not be interpreted as zero spending on education.
