Wirtz equals a forgotten Sadio Mané record at Liverpool

In Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Brentford, Florian Wirtz created nine chances from open play, matching the club’s Premier League record set by Sadio Mané against Burnley on January 21, 2021. Signed from Bayer Leverkusen for €134 million, the German also assisted Victor Muñoz. Mané had reached the same total in a 1-0 defeat at Anfield that ended Liverpool’s 68-match unbeaten home league run. The statistic recalls that creating chances and setting up teammates were also important parts of the Senegalese forward’s contribution at Liverpool.
