Softcare Case: Deputies Confirm the Presence of Expired Raw Materials

In December 2025, the Softcare case shook Senegal, with allegations of expired raw materials being used in the production of hygiene products by the Senegalese subsidiary of a Chinese group. The parliamentary mission confirmed the presence of these materials at the Sindia (Mbour) site, including 2,260 kg of expired perforated film, which was destroyed by incineration. Deputies also identified stock management failures, inadequate tracking of expiration dates, and testimonies indicating the habitual use of expired materials, though no scientific evidence was found of their incorporation into finished products.
