Ebola in DRC: Kinshasa implements a 180-day preparedness and response plan valued at $1.2 billion

In response to the spread of the Ebola virus disease, Bundibugyo strain, declared on May 15, 2026, the DRC has developed a 180-day preparedness and response plan valued at $1.2 billion. The plan aims to ensure ongoing epidemiological surveillance, patient care, contact tracing, and community prevention across seven provinces, with Ituri as the main hotspot. During a press conference, the INSP director emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability from partners, noting that only 25% of the 97 involved organizations had justified their resource use, as stated by the Minister of Health.
