DRC validates a new protocol for the management of severe malaria based on injectable quinine

A new protocol for the treatment of severe malaria has been validated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, focusing on the use of injectable quinine dosed at 500 mg/2ml. This protocol, developed by the National Malaria Control Program in partnership with PHARMAKINA, will be administered as monotherapy for severe cases and in combination with clindamycin for adults and pregnant women. Before distribution, clinical trials will be conducted at the University Clinics of Kinshasa.
