Trade surplus: Figures show sharp improvement in Senegal’s trade balance

Senegal recorded a trade surplus of 160 billion CFA francs in August 2026, up from 54.9 billion in July, a monthly increase of 105.1 billion. According to the National Agency of Statistics and Demography (ANSD), the improvement reflected higher exports of refined petroleum products and phosphoric acid, alongside lower imports of refined petroleum products and transport equipment. In August 2025, Senegal had posted a deficit of 112.8 billion CFA francs. The trade balance therefore improved by 272.8 billion over the year.
