Norwegian teen sentenced to 20 years for UK murder plot

Johannes Natland, 19, was sentenced to 20 years’ detention after being found guilty of conspiracy to murder. Recruited by the Swedish organised crime group Foxtrot Network, he travelled from Norway to the UK in March 2025 and was arrested at a Huddersfield hotel with two working guns and 19 rounds of ammunition. His intended target has not been identified; the plot was thwarted after Norwegian police arrested his recruiter and found messages about it on the recruiter’s phone. Foxtrot, sanctioned by the UK and US for its links to the Iranian government, is associated with recruiting young people to carry out killings, a practice Europol calls “violence-as-a-service.”
