DRC: Ebola death toll surpasses that of 2018-2020, the deadliest epidemic ever recorded

Since mid-May, the Ebola virus has killed 3,007 people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with 6,186 cases reported. The current outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo virus, has already surpassed the death toll of the 2018-2020 outbreak, which resulted in approximately 2,300 deaths. The UN is calling for increased international support, while Uganda has declared the end of its outbreak, contrasting with the situation in the DRC where deaths continue to rise.
