Madagascar: after paving the way for a new regime, Gen Z feels betrayed

One year after protests led by Madagascar's Generation Z that forced President Andry Rajoelina to step down and resulted in 22 deaths, the youth activists feel betrayed by the new government, which they accuse of employing the same old tactics. Commemorations were held to mark the anniversary. Last October, soldiers from the Capsat unit joined the protesters, marking a turning point, and the military took power with Colonel Michael Randrianirina as interim leader. A faction of Madagascar's Gen Z has recently expressed support for the colonel.
