Niger: Uranium at the Heart of the Thaw with China, What Niamey Wants to Achieve

Niger is looking to strengthen its cooperation with China in the uranium sector, focusing on resource valuation and technology transfer. During a meeting in Tianjin, Minister of Mines Abarchi Ousmane discussed mining cooperation prospects with the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). Nigerien authorities aim to develop partnerships to increase the economic returns from the sector by further integrating the uranium value chain. The CNNC, which already has experience in Niger, could play a key role in this evolution.
