Police rescue 10 abducted passengers and kill suspected kidnapper in Ogun State

Ten passengers abducted from a commercial bus at Orita Fufu in Ogun State on November 3 were released unharmed on Sunday following security operations. The victims, recently discharged members of Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps, were travelling from Benin City to Ibadan when gunmen intercepted their bus; another passenger escaped and raised the alarm. In an operation at a suspected hideout at 1 a.m., police killed one suspected kidnapper in a gun battle, while others fled with suspected gunshot wounds. Officers recovered an AK-47 rifle, 20 rounds of ammunition, 1,376,800 naira and a mobile phone, and efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
