Apple ordered to pay $5.7bn in patent infringement case

Apple has been ordered to pay over $5.7 billion for using patented technology from Taction Technology related to haptic feedback. A jury in California found that Apple infringed two patents owned by the San Diego-based company. Apple plans to appeal the verdict, while Taction celebrates the ruling, claiming Apple exploited its patents without licensing. The case began in 2021 and was revived by an appeals court in 2025 after a 2023 ruling favored Apple.
