‘Tell Them No’: Obi urges UK-based Nigerians to stop sending money home

Peter Obi, Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, urged Nigerians living in the UK to turn down requests for money from relatives back home. At a town hall meeting in Manchester on Sunday, he said remittances ease hardship without tackling its underlying causes, which he blamed on poor governance, and called on the diaspora to support productive, less corrupt leaders. The former Anambra State governor also defended his record, saying he had saved public funds, and urged Nigerians to take the 2027 election seriously.
