Spanish police have begun identifying migrants housed at the temporary Muelle de Poniente camp in Ceuta before transferring them to other facilities. According to the EFE news agency, authorities plan to dismantle the camp and distribute its residents among seven temporary sites, with the aim of closing those with the fewest residents. The camp’s opening was controversial because the port authority opposed locating it in the port area. The report also notes political divisions in Spain and allegations against Morocco over a mass crossing in July, when more than 70,000 people reportedly entered the enclave.
