A surprise comeback in Algeria for Pape Thiaw?

MC Alger is reportedly considering appointing Pape Thiaw to replace Khaled Ben Yahia, who is said to have decided to leave amid pressure surrounding the team. WinWin reports that a meeting with the club’s leadership is scheduled for Sunday to discuss the Tunisian coach’s departure. Thiaw has been without a club since being dismissed as Senegal coach in July after the team’s elimination by Belgium in the 2026 World Cup round of 16. Before that, he won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and led Senegal to World Cup qualification.
