‘A year of resistance’: Cuba’s private sector faces Trump’s oil blockade

Since the U.S. imposed an oil blockade on Cuba in January, small family businesses like Oishi have faced severe fuel shortages and power outages. Miguel Salva, the owner of Oishi, had to close his restaurant due to skyrocketing petrol prices, reaching up to $10 a liter on the black market. Other businesses, such as Pincharte, are experiencing eightfold increases in operating costs and are considering a shift to renewable energy.
