Maes case: Moroccan court reduces his prison sentence by six years

The criminal appeals chamber of the Tangier Court of Appeal reduced Franco-Moroccan rapper Walid Georgey, known as Maes, prison sentence from seven years to one year. The decision was issued on November 6, 2026, following a fresh review of sentences in a case involving an alleged criminal network. In November 2025, Maes had been convicted in connection with charges including forming a criminal gang, attempted kidnapping and unlawful confinement, and incitement to commit crimes and offenses. The second defendant, Mourad Lahrech, received four years in prison, while other defendants were sentenced to between one year and 18 months.
