AAK Condemns ODPP Over Charges Against Nairobi Planning Committee Members in Manzil Tower Case

The Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) strongly condemned the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) decision to press criminal charges against all members of the Nairobi City County Urban Planning Technical Committee (UPTC) over the Manzil Tower collapse. AAK argued that the UPTC is an advisory body with no executive approval authority, which rests solely with the County Executive Committee Member (CEC). They called for the immediate withdrawal of the charges, warning that the move sets a dangerous precedent and discourages professionals from public oversight.
